new single + launch party
saturday 21st december | 6.30pm
and we are finally here, at the point of new music. i have a bunch of tracks that i intend to release from now into the forseeable.
first up is called, ‘rainbow’. which i will be releasing on my birthday, which also falls on ‘reconciliation day’ in south africa. the song is a deep reclamation of healing for that land and so it only made sense for me to release it on the alignment of both of these.
this song is not produced by me, it was produced by capetonian, khotso mogotlane, who has shared the stage with the likes of black motion, hanna hais and oscar poche. we met after a gig i played at at the neighbourgoods market where i was singing live in the set. he approached me afterwards and told me that he loves my vocals and he has a track that he thinks will work really well with my voice.
so i said send it, let me listen. we noticed we have a mutual friend on instagram and i digged the track, which also contained flute performed and composed by maïah barouh. i recorded some vocals for him last year and then sent it his way. he was really happy with what he heard and said that he had been waiting 10 years to find the right vocalist for the track. since then we’ve been going back and forth and had a little hiccup as his laptop was stolen back in 2018 so we didn’t have the actual project to work from and a limited bounce.
amadeusz managed to save the day the best he could and khotso was really happy with the way that he sculpted it. the song was actually accepted to be released on the cafe de anatolia label, however after much consideration, i decided that it’s best to release it on my own label, our sacred rhythms and keep building what i want to build. which he was very happy to do.
so, a little bit of a back story with this one and i am happy to be putting it out into the world. the song is for the healing of my homeland and the emanations from it for the rest of the world.
we are here at this pivotal and beauitful moment in time where so much is shifting within us as we begin to open ourselves up to encompassing and bringing more love into our hearts and the planet. may your upgrade be revolutionary.
i will also be hosting a little celebration as it is my birthday as well as for the single release, with a live performance (singing) and a cacao ceremony hosted by my friend kusňi love.
